When the people of Idaho created the government of this great state to serve them, they in no way forfeited their sovereignty to the government they created. The individuals elected to the office of Bonner County Commissioner should conduct the business of our local government with truth, accountability, and transparency. The citizens of Bonner County have the right and responsibility to demand such conduct.
Brian embraces these values and will champion them within our local government should he be honored with the trust to fulfill the duties of this public service office.
Brian has over 25‐years of experience working collaboratively with diverse groups of clients, industry professionals, regulatory agencies, and the public. This experience has provided Brian with the insight needed to oversee the broad range of services provided by Bonner County to its citizens.
In his past roles working for architecture and engineering firms, Brian has acted as a project manager overseeing the planning, design, and construction of large complex projects for public and private schools, colleges, libraries, and postal facilities. Brian’s experience as a project manager on such large projects has equipped him with the ability to provide oversight on multi-million-dollar budgets, which is one of the primary responsibilities of a county commissioner.
As a licensed landscape architect, Brian has focused his current business model on helping fellow citizens in North Idaho create a plan for returning to the land to live a more secure, self-sufficient, rural lifestyle through developing small family farms and homesteads.
Brian’s professional experience has equipped him with the knowledge required to guide long range planning, oversee large budgets, encourage teamwork, find creative solutions, and make difficult priority decisions when resources are limited.
Brian is committed to using his experience to help strengthen the resiliency of our community and to create a limited local government that is accountable to its citizens.
Brian has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours working to protect the rural communities of our county from unlawful attempts to amend the Bonner County Comprehensive Plan and implement spot zoning.
Brian’s efforts have included chairing the Priest River/Oldtown Sub-Area Plan Committee, where Brian authored proposed property rights language stating “In the simplest of terms, private property rights are the recognition that a landowner has the constitutional authority to pursue life, liberty and happiness through utilizing their land in the manner of their choosing, so long as it does not cause harm to their neighbors.”
Brian has also participated in several county planning and zoning hearings to protect his community and fellow citizens from attempts to inappropriately subdivide land and change zoning.
